Monte Piccolo means “tiny mountain” in Italian. The name is making reference to its relative size when compared to Monte Cello (small mountain) where Thomas Jefferson (our 3rd President) built a home in Charlottesville, Virginia, which is referred to as Monticello.
Monte Piccolo Farm is located not far from Montecello in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The initial fruit orchards were started in 2003 with the planting of apple, apricot, and Burford pear orchards. Monte Piccolo Distillery was started in 2009 and completed in 2017. The grand opening of the distillery and tasting room is anticipated to be...very soon!
